It appears to be aftermarket. Could be part of some kind of alarm system. Could be 1 of those deals used car dealers use to shut your car off remotely if you dont pay.

I guess i shouldn't yank it out of the truck then & the truck is paid for so I guess that wont be a problem.

why replace it? those things generally last a long time. and the nice thing about that model is if you want to slow down just the trailer you can manually by sliding that lever.
