I have a. 1996 ford f150 xl 4.9 5 speed manual transmission. And now when giving it gas it 4th or 5th. It feels like it's slipping. The revs going higher but I don't speed up. Some times I got a slight burning smell. It shifts fine in all gears. I have to let the clutch almost all the way out to engage a gear. HopinG it's not the transmission
Well I've done my research. Buying a clutch set up with the internal slave cylinder and might go ahead and replace a few seals while I'm at it. I've received one quote of 1100 from ammco. More then likely just going to do it my self with a few friends. Still in the fence though. Any recommendations as far as clutch goes. So far zoom and even center force sound pretty good for the money.
I would just go with the stock style clutch setup myself. You may be able to get a very good deal on the whole package from Ford, believe it or not. The whole package being the clutch disc, pressure plate, pilot bearing, slave cylinder and throwout bearing and I believe they even include a plastic alignment tool in the package.
Whatever you do don't use a parts store slave cylinder. We read of too many of them failing in a very short time. Get a genuine Ford slave cylinder.
So I can upgrade to an 11 inch clutch but as long as it's not the 8500gvwr. This one should work then. Anyone done the 11 inch upgrade. 1995-97 4.9L 11" LUK Pro Gold clutch kit
