Blockerbeam brackets for 01 Ex

Had a little accident while driving on ice a few months ago. One thing I did was sheer the blockerbeam (also called "Miata Bar") brackets off the front of the EX. Took me forever to figure what these were and why they were there. Apparently they were added in 01 to keep small cars from going under the front of Excursions and F250s. Anyway, mine are welded on to the front leaf spring shackle and I can't find a decent deal on a replacement. Found one at a salvage yard but it was bent, found one on ebay for $100.

Anybody have any idea if these are necessary to have on the truck or even available anywhere? Don't want to not have it on there and then have a small car go under me and be liable. I plan to keep searching craigslist, hope some show up.

Here's the link to what I'm talking about. Maybe somebody has some laying around.

Thanks

It's not NEEDED. Vehicle will function as normal without it.

Without it on a stock ex wouldn't be any different than a lifted ex with it in a accident.

Thanks...

It really just looks like something else to come loose and cause damage in an accident anyway.

If you decide you want to replace them I have a set of stock shackles with the brackets you are looking for. I removed them from a 2002 f250 tp do a fabtech shackle lift. I would trade them for shipping cost and a case of miller lite.lol

Everyone I know calls it a "Prius Catcher."

My 99 Super Duty didn't even come from the factory with one- it was added later. You'd be fine without one.
