Need downpipe help quick
Hey guys. I have a 96 f350 psd and im trying to install a new down pipe. I have been trying to bend the firewall to let it through but there is allmost no room.are there any tricks to this that I should use? Thanks.

There's more than one way to skin a cat, and as many ways to bend the firewall. What worked for me was a long prybar, and I used the corner of the engine block for leverage. Some guys have used a PortaPower.

Did you cut the pinch welds on the firewall? After making the cuts I used a 6' piece of 1.5" rebar to fold the seam over.Use the back of the head as the fulcrum point for the bar.

I burned a hole through the insulation right behind the downpipe.
Oops.
I think the bigger downpipe was a little too close to it.
Solution? I used some of the silver muffler tape on it. So far it's been about 3 months and it's holding up fine.
If I was going to do another one, I think I'd lay down a few strips of that behind the pipe as a preventive action.
