Make sure to check the injectors. Bad injectors will make it slow, especially cold and if you're not used to diesels you may not realize the injectors are ticking louder than normal.
Get the SG2 BEFORE you buy to really be able to tell what you are looking at.
The "turbo lag" is real bad in stock form, at least it was on mine. I could never pull out in traffic, it drove like I had 2 throttle position gradual until about 5-10 MPH and then I had the thrill of full turbo mode. I had my FICM repaired by Ed@ficmrepair and got it reprogrammed with an atlas40 calibration, which completely removed the turbo lag.
Lots of 6L for sale because previous owner knew something was wrong and got out. Take your time and get the SG2 !
You said that the truck has different tires and rims. Larger tires do effect gear ratios. Which will effect take off. You should change the axle ratios when running larger tires.
That being said even with the stock turbo lag the 6.0 should still take off like a beast once the turbo has kicked in.
Get a printout from ford using the vin number to see what services have been done. It should show up in the system
If the oil cooler has had to be replaced a couple of times, but the egr has not ever been replaced I would pass on the truck.
thanks for the help, too many people to me to pass, so I did, I am going to get a 2500 suburban with a 6L gas burner, thanks for keeping me from making a bad mistake

It's not a mistake, but a 6.0 will require some money to make it what it should be. Once it's done there is NO comparison to the suburban. I come off the light and within 2 seconds I'm smoking my 35's yes both.
So, my recommendation is if you don't have the money stay away. But if you can swing it, the 6.0 is a true beast.
I tried telling him way back in post #8. Some people just don't appreciate the power, reliability and simplicity of the mighty Triton V-10!
By far the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned, sold it in perfect condition with 228k. Never let me down, only reason why I sold it wife complained I had too many toys at the time.
