This build has been one learning curve after another, although a lot of fun.
Current issue is, the pulley system I am using called for a sanden 508 AC compressor. Has anyone wired one of these into a bricknose? I figure there has to be one or two guys who bought a truck with no AC and then added it. There is only a single wire lead coming off this compressor.
I'd put a power switch in the cab that goes to the low limit sensor then to the AC clutch. I've seen a few guys run a hot strait to the AC clutch but wouldn't recommend it.
Thanks for the response, So my truck had AC factory. I was between a rock and a hardplace and actually ended up with both a new sanden508 and the factory style compressor. Problem is the factory compressor does not mount on any pulley systems on the market....
So I have all the switch wiring, and safety pressure switch wiring, I am assuming this is a clutch position/engage/disengage wire.. My old compressor has 0 wires coming from it.
I added an AC to my '87 300 made up from various junkyard parts. I found a Sanden compressor with one wire and used it. The nice thing about the conversion was that, even though the truck had never had AC, the wiring harness already had all the wires and connectors ready to go. That included a single wire connector somewhere in the area of the distributor (can't remember exactly where as its been a few years) for hooking up the compressor. I added the dash controls (for which the wiring harness connector was up under the dash ready to hook up), plugged everything up, and the ECM immediately took over the engine/idle control and the system worked perfectly.
I don't know if any of this helps, but I thought I would throw in my experience. Good luck.
