My question is to those of you that have one of these..is there any hints you can give to unistalling the old y and installing this new one? Will it throw any codes? Thanks a lot.
Hopefully it will get here soon so I will have something to do over the 4th of July weekend cause all my friends are going out of town.
yo!
greystreak92 did this job on his 92: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...0&albumid=4239
he'll prob pop-up here soon and give ya the full play-by-play;
in meantime, try searching for his name here and see if he has posted any relevant info in the past.
No codes ever. Just a straight forward swap. I was running a cutom two-piece driver's exhaust manifold So I removed the manifolds too. Since I was putting the entire system under the truck I cut the old Y-pipe and everything down...put the new Bassani stuff up and never looked back. The photos in my gallery "under the truck" may help. The Y-pipe will bolt directly to the stock manifolds. Get a new O2 sensor no point in pttuing an old one back in. Otherwise the moutning locations and such are identical to stock so there should be no problems on the install with routing or things lining up.
Thanks for the input...I kinda figured the hardest part is gonna be getting old one off cause of rusted bolts and what not. How much is a new O2 sensor.
I'll update ya'll when it gets here and Installed.
Well my bronco is a 94 so I only have one sensor to replace. And I think since the are a bit pricey I think I will see after I have done the install if I really need it. I went through what came in the box and there are no instructions what-so-ever not sure if thats normal. There are only 2 things that I would need help with though and maybe some of you guys know. I am going to the stock Manifolds (for now) and I got the Bronco Flanges...there is one side that is beveled and one that is flat it fitsperfectly in to yhe collector but which side do I put against the gasket the flat or the beveld? I would assume the flat but I wanna make sure.
And second, there is a heavy duty clamp that came with it...is it to attach the exisisting cat back to the new pipe?
Yes, I had the same question about the gasket between the exhaust manifold and the Y-pipe. On the 1996 it's metal to metal, no gasket required. So, what's all the talk here about using a doughnuy gasket? Someone has to be right???
Don't know whether they are required components or not but mine had 'em (donuts) when I took the stock exhaust off the truck. Only thing between the Bassani headers and Y-pipe is a nice coating of anti-seize compound.
