Jamey's Bronco rescue/buildup
Hi there
I recently picked up a 1987 Bronco, with a 302 and automatic, to be my emergency spare truck, four wheeling vehicle, and to ensure that I don't end up with any extra money laying around.
From the looks of it, it had been picked over and auctioned off, but it ran well so I bought it, I hauled it home and started gathering parts. It's missing the driver window and wing window, the rear window, was missing all the fuses and turn signal flasher, stereo, console lid, carpeting, other random stuff like that, and it had a major exhaust leak at the driver's side manifold.
First off, i replaced all the fuses. This brought everything electrical back to life except the passenger window motor, Fuel Gauge, and Speedometer. More on that in a bit.
Next I replaced the Exhaust Manifold... the old one came off in three pieces so i suppose i found the leak New plugs, wires, and an air filter at the same time.
Yesterday I went on Craigslist and bought the doors, seats, and console out of a 1986 F250 extended cab. The doors have glass, and the window motors work, but they don't hoist the glass without a lot of help. I scored all of that for $130 so I feel pretty happy about that trip. The best part was the guy parting out the truck knew where I can get a good deal on 90% tread surplus humvee tires.
So that brings me to today... The plan is to pull my new doors' panels off and put the new plastic pucks in the window mechanism and see if that doesn't fix my issue.
As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I'll get some up on here. Thank you for the great website.
edit: figured it out, i think. here's my Bronco the day i bought it, covered in bird droppings
