Yes, only DRW's with Hydroboost. 2011 SRW F350's have it as well.
SultanGris, can you hear any noticeable noises when it does this? If so, what does it sound like?
Based on what you have mentioned so far in this thread, I am guessing it is your clock spring (just behind your steering wheel). Mine encountered the issue once too.
Thanks.
That was another thought but I figured if it was that it would be on the same spot of the turn and happen every time if the gears were bad or something, perhaps that's what it is because everything u can see looks good. It's either in the column or the box. How many times did it happen to you before you figured it out?
I'm 2000 miles from home and going from Pheonix to San Diego tomorrow or Tues. Still under warranty but I ain't exactly got time to make an appointment. Maybe I'll stop by tomorrow and see how busy they are. Hate for it to let loose going 75mph, heh.
When it totally locked up in a turn and I almost went over the curb.
No noise. Just got back from dealer. They couldn't find anything, I knew they wouldn't, but they didn't take column apart. Said steering is hydraulic. Guess I'll see if it happens again. Strange.
I'm also having a steering issue, most noticable when turning left. The steering does not lock, but I can here a noise coming from under the truck on the drivers side. Tech can here it as well, but unable to diagnose so far. Any thoughts?
My issue has not yet reoccured. Happened like 3 or 4 days in a row. Very strange. Something must have been stuck or binding somewhere. I did kinda hear a bang or a pop once like something fell off and hit the street or something. Hasnt occurred since then. Dealer said they no no signs of anything rubbing or binding though, but they probably didn't look too hard.
X2
Mine was not recovering out of the turn like it should.
I had to "wheel" it back straight. Buddy of mine was having the
same issue, and a mech told him it could be the u-joints.
I looked at mine and there are grease fittings on the joints.
After a few time greasing them it hasn't done it in 2 years.
Interesting, mine has 9,700 miles on it, so hard to believe it's a bad u joint, but worth tracking down. The first time I had it in, they replaced a tie rod! I think they're as stumped on this as anyone.
Just throwing this out there but does the truck have an aftermarket steering stabilizer? If so, there is a bracket that when going over a significant bump can be pushed into the tie rod adjusting sleeve which will make the steering very stiff.

I'd like to look into this to see how I can help, Badger Mike. For me to do so, I'll need a PM from you with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll start researching ways to assist.
At 86,000 miles mine is doing almost the same thing. Front End shop suggested serpentine belt or condition of fluid. He claims the pump is extremely high pressure and the fluid doesn't last long. He has seen this on others at his shop. Was thinking about changing the belt too.
