Which is more valuable?

Lets say you have a nice original, low mile truck with a nice original motor compartment. The air cleaner and valve covers have some blue paint still left on them and it doesn't look horrible but not that great. If you were to sand blast the different easily removable motor components and powdercoat them or paint them back to ford blue does this help the value or hurt the "original look" value. You're really not touching the mechanics of the engine just the looks. opinions?

If you're gonna leave the rest of the truck alone, try cleaning them real good first. Especially if you're going to sell the truck

If I were going to sell the truck, I would clean and paint under the hood... but do a good job, not just go under the hood with a can of blue and start painting.. haha.
my ford that I have, my old man had since I was a kid, before I talked him out of it he had the engine rebuilt, he didnt paint anything, after I recieved it I cleaned everything up and painted valve covers and air cleaner blue, and most everything black, It looks 100 times better...

I guess a clean truck in my opinion is worth more... but sometimes it turns out you buy someone elses problems

When I see a truck that has blue over spray on hoses and the firewall it sends up a red flag for me. It just makes me wonder what kind of other halfass work was done of the truck.

If it were my truck I would match the engine compartment to the rest of the truck. If its got perfect paint and a nice interior then by all means pull the valve covers and paint them. If the truck has the "survivor" look or some patina then I would leave the valve covers alone and just detail the whole engine bay.

I have no plans to anything major to my truck, it has been poorly bondoed by the previous owner, and any money i put into it is mechanical. That being said, i did paint the valve covers ford blue, and the water pump, lol. Anything other work that i have done, ps pump, alternator, smog pump, i have shot the brackets with Satin or semigloss black.
