Hello, I'm having a few issues electrically with my 1980 F-250 with an inline 6.
The most important, and the reason I am posting today is this: My headlights, and turn signals do not work. The headlight bulbs have been replaced and still no dice. As for the turn signals, they did work when I first purchased the vehicle (about two months ago now) and now they have stopped. I have checked the fuses and none of them have blown. I have also purchased a fuse checker and no amps are being detected in three fuses. A 30, 15, and a 4. Any troubleshooting or ideas would gladly be appreciated.
You may have the dreaded burned wire at the headlight switch. Look under the dash to see if your wires are burned there. If so, that would explain the headlight issue.
But, it might not explain the turn signals, although it is possible their wire could be part of the problem with the headlight. Have you checked to see if your ignition switch is coming back all the way to Run? In cold weather many don't and things like the turn signals don't get powered.
Does your horn work when the key is off and when it is on? If not you may have a ground problem in the steering column under the horn pad, and I've seen that cause problems with the turn signals.
I've had the trouble with my headlights recently also. The headlights aren't bright at all, I think I might buy a new headlight harness. I don't know why my turn signals don't work. If you find a way to fix them, let me know.
