trans info

I have a 1990 ford 150 with the 300 6 in it, I just bought a high performance 347 engine which is a 302 block, I need to find out if I can use the same transmission ive got in it or do I have to change it I would rather keep the the standard four speed in it because of the low gear range it has can I just change the bell housing in it plus the truck is a 4x4 too

The 300/4.9L and the 302/5.0L (and the 351/5.8L for that matter) have the same bolt pattern for the bellhousing to engine. So, with that said it "should" be a direct swap..

That 347 is probably going to over power the transmission (assume it is the Mazda trans.). The next hurdle is getting the fuel injection system to run it. If you go with a carb. you are on your own.
