Im looking for a way to install a remote activated kill switch on my Ex. Around here the older diesel trucks are easy prey for theft because the keys aren't programmed. Friend had his 3 month old truck driven to the border and back, thru some fences, etc and insurance stuck it to him. My thought is to use another keyless entry remote that activates a relay which could make or break a power wire to something...maybe the FICM relay. Wouldn't be something I would use all the time, just something for some added protection when the Ex is parked in a big parking lot. Any thoughts, or experiences?

I would put this in the starter circuit so they would not be able to kill the battery trying (unsuccessfully) to start it.

Your Ex will have PATS on it.
A 3 month old truck will also have PATS on it. Your friend's truck must have had the keys left in it.
I've worked on Plans for a FOB security system that would not let the vehicle start with out the FOB and would shut it down 30 Seconds after the FOB left the Vehicle so if you were Car jacked they would not get far. I was planing a reader in the drivers seat and a Card in my wallet
U can always put a 12v kill switch on ur ignition wire. Do it farther down the line so it not right under the dash where they would rip the wires down and see that u taped into it. And then just put the switch some u wouldn't look

x2, this is cheap and easy.
Here's my top of the line security systems that are out with me a good chunk of the time
Question about this.
I have thought doing this, but where in the "system" would you put it? Between the battery and the starter? Wouldn't you effectively be resetting the computer each time you shut the power? If this is the case, then Im not sure I would want to do it... Just asking if anyone has any knowledge regarding this relatively simple method of theft prevention.

It's rare to hear of an Excursion getting stolen. A few years ago, an FTE user parked his '03 Excursion at either an airport or parking garage downtown and left the keys in it for a friend to pick up. Thieves were either watching him or saw the key he left somewhere and took off in his truck.
Thieves that steal Super Duties more often then not, look for the crew cab long bed trucks if they use them to run accross the boarder. He had to have left his keys in the truck for his brand new Super Duty to get stolen. Insurance companies (especially in Texas) stick it to you with their "We don't pay for your stupidity" policy if you leave your keys in your truck.
You could also look into a 2 way pager alarm/remote start. It lets you know if someone messes with your truck and you can remote start it on cold or hot days.
However if you're looking for something simple to just plain keep the truck from starting, get the Ravelco.
If you use a. Battry kill switch you can use a
Fuse across the lugs. This will allow voltage to continue to essential stuff.... radio memory computers etc. In the event someone tries to start it when on the off position the fuse will blow rendering it completely dead. Cheap simple effective
