Edge Insight Question

Does anyone know if the Edge Insight will set a telltale flag in the computer. I read the occasional thread where someone tunes their truck then says they would just put all the deleted hardware back on before going in for warranty repair or trading in. Rarely does the mention of the telltale computer flag pop up whereby a dealer would "know" that a truck has been tuned.

Everything on my truck is stock except lights, air compressor, damper and shocks. I intend to leave it that way (18K trouble free miles so far). I also like to monitor my engine in more detail than Ford thinks I want to. Hence the Edge Insight. Since the Insight is not a tuner, only a monitor, will the Insight set the same flag that tuners will?? Just wondering if I'll have any explaining to do if a warranty issue ever does pop up.

All you are doing is accessing the OBD port. Just like if you have a check engine light on.

You are not programming anything. Therefore if you have a concern, pull the Edge and take it.

that is all.

Depending on what you want to monitor? Maybe an Android App and an OBD2 Bluetooth Adapter might be all you need for under $ 30. Torque Pro and Car Garage to name two.

After clearing some codes from an EGT sensor failure I still have a code remaining that won't clear. P0000 " On-board Diagnostic System Readiness Test Not Complete" won't clear. I'm not sure if clearing codes with the Insight might have caused this.

The Insight leaves no trace, but unless you are on real good terms with your service department, I would remove the Insight before going to the dealer for any warranty work. Some dealers have been known to give people problems over gauges or OBD monitors. This can be especially true for the Insight CTS since there is an Evolution version that actually is a tuner. I always say better safe than sorry especially since it only takes less than 2 minutes to remove it from the truck.

Agree on that. They will see the I in power level and think its a tuner.instead its a I for Insight.

I believe that code I have as well.It was there as soon as I checked for codes with cts.Ive never had to clear any codes before so the fact you cleared the sensor code had nothing to do with the p000 code.Ive read before on here that it is the cts that causes that code. Its not a true trouble code.

P0000 Means there are no trouble codes. That is what you want to see. Now if you have a P0401 etc. You have a problem.

I have a code that tells me there are no codes... P0000 was never there until I cleared the EGT sensor codes.

P0000 was there prior to getting your egt code.after you clear your code and dont have a hard fault it will return to P0000 again. Normal. If any other code appears you have a problem. Be happy you see P0000

Do not worry about that code as stated above.

It means nothing.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. Unfortunately with the Insight mounted in a pod mounted to the dash with cabling running through the dash it won't be that easy to remove but even so shouldn't take too long. I asked the service manager about the Insight before I got it. He was aware of what it is and didn't seem concerned about it but even so, I've never really trusted dealers.

It literally takes 5 min to remove it.Take side panel out of dash and everything is excessible to feed it through.Very simple removal and install.

I have been to 2 dealers and they know what the Edge was when I took it in. I put it a little post it note on it anyway that said electronic gauge only.
Never the less, if they don't believe me I would ask them to hook the IDS up and show me where it says it found a tuner, but they generally as a rule want your business and wont harass you in the service dept. They get a lot sh&% from people for things that are out of their hands (the diesel techs) they want to get you fixed and out the door, not nit pick your choice of additional gauges.
