Not really. Advancing it by a degree or two will help performance but won't be necessary just for a cam swap.

As I said before, you need to be very careful when choosing your cam due to your SD system. I have read that comp cams #34-231-4 is a good choice to still operate within SD.

Well after a month and $1700 later I finally got my motor back from the machine shop today. 2 walls were a little oval so it got bored out and the head got new seats and seals and lapped in and springs were checked and a new stock cam.

The bottom got bored ,crank turned and new pistons. I will get started on building the block tomorrow and get some pics up.

Sounds like you went about it the right way. Be sure to use plenty of lubrication during assembly. It is best to use assembly oil, but if you are using regular oil, use a lot.
