Exclamation carb installation

Ok I've bought just about everything and looking to do my engine on a sunny weekend so far I bought a clifford intake a set of headers long pipe a flowmaster muffler the fel-pro gasket and a four barrell 600 cfm holley carb with two additional parts for a ford w no o/d tranny kickdown i guess question is any thing else needed to do this job to my 78 f150 with a h/d300 six ie.. accelerator cable springs such and such any replies greatly appreciated ps any idea about what kind of horsepower this will give me .....

If that engine is stock internally, you may have too big of a carb for it. Most 300-6's are quite happy with a 390cfm 4BBL, or a 350cfm 2BBL. You will need a new accelerator cable as well, if the intake doesn't come with one. The stock-style one crosses over the valve cover, and the carb pulls sideways. You want to mount a 2BBL or 4BBL so that the carb pulls front to back, and the stock cable isn't long enough.

I was told i could tune down this 600 so that it runs fine till i have a new short block built with a cam and some other upgrades

Maybe by disabling the secondaries.......
Do the headers allow you to change the starter without taking them off? If not, you may want to get a heat shield for the starter, to help it last a little longer.
