I just installed the fuel pressure gauge for my Insight CTS. I connected everything, turned the key on and checked for leaks. Didn't find any. Plugged it into MyStyle and updated it. Put it back in the truck and when I turn the key on, the fuel pressure goes up to 50psi while the pump is on. After the pump turns off, the fuel psi goes back to zero in 10-15 seconds time. I haven't started the truck one, because my 5" straightpipe isn't neighbor friendly at 830pm in my subdivision, and two, wondering if this is normal or if I have a leak somewhere I cant find or fuel draining back out of the filter housing. I didn't pull the fuel filter cap because I don't have a new filter on hand.
This is why I installed this. Now what about failing fuel pump? Mine has been groaning a little more than normal lately. And yes $45 vs $250 is a no brainer
The fuel pressure will drop after the fuel pump cuts off. It is normal. I agree that 50 psi is a little on the edge, if it is 50 at idle hopefully it doesn't drop below 45 at wot. With the blue spring mine hovers around 60
Ok so I installed the blue spring but now my fuel pressure is 76 psi at startup, drops down to 67-68ish WOT and back up to 75 +/- 1psi. Am I getting too much pressure?

With the blue spring and a new fuel pump I am in the 61-64 range at idle and in the high 50's at WOT.

I think you're fine. It's on the high side but not unheard of for sure.
Hey did you just use the EAS pressure sensor kit? The only reason I ask is because with that you don't have to buy the starter kit or the expandable do you?
I read on here or powerstroke.org that 76 psi is the max before it hurts the injector o-rings. But I've seen some say 70 is max and others say 90 psi. I did this to help protect the injectors not to hurt them lol. And as far as the EAS fuel pressure, yes you need to buy the starter kit. Only the starter kit plugs into the monitor itself and everything else plugs into that.
I only buy the filters from the local dealer. The blue spring fixed the low pressure but now I'm worried I have too much since it stays above 70 psi most of the time. Same filters in the truck as before I did the spring.
