You are not wrong about can't wait! I fly back to Oz on Christmas day, and it will be an anxious couple of weeks waiting for it to turn up.

The quiet idle and even cruise I don't mind, but when I step on it, I want to hear it. Not to mention, the 6.7 has a whole bunch of weird sounds when you straight pipe it that just don't sound "engine like" to me.
Not my truck in video, but similar setup.

Wink

I've got a "friend" who has a Warhammer tune and his truck sounds like a massive truck with a jet engine! He gets plenty of looks!

It will clean up under load/boost. I have the same tune and with the tuner you can adjust "low boost fueling". More fuel at low boosts reduces turbo lag, but will throw some smoke unless I build boost up prior to accelerating.

Fortunately nothing like a TD42 patrol with the pump wound up.

I picked up the truck on Monday from the shop doing the conversion.

Apart from an initial surprise that they were still working on the truck when I came to pick it up (the BCM that runs the climate control had packed it in), and they had to do last minute air freight, and fit/calibrate the new BCM at the shippers, all was good.

I don't have any photos of the conversion yet, as was flat out loading my camper on it and packing all my belongings in it as I had to drop it off at the shippers the following day, but the initial impressions were really positive.
Interior of the truck looks better than when I dropped it off, everything interior works really well. Obviously I didn't get a chance to drive it on the left of the road on the 250km drive to the shipping yard, so can't check steering properly and other stuff, but apart from that hopefully truck should be in Melbourne mid Jan. I think there is some stuff I will need to do for roadworthy

(amber indicators in the tail lamps - has anyone here replaced their tail lamps?) I know the older tail lights from the models sold here can be made to fit, but I don't like the look of them as much.
The other thing I may have to do is ship in some new tyres. 295/65R20's don't look like they are easily come by in Aus.

I also prefer the US tail lights, on mine I have orange/chrome globes in the reverse clear position of the tail light and use separate reverse light.

Congrats on getting through that milestone.
What they said. Keep you taillights, orange bulbs in the clear section, and a pair of
LED floodlights for reversing lights - they're tons better than the stock ones and draw less power. You can get ones that will bolt up under the rear bumper using the stock bolts that join the plastic centre section to the chrome section and mount the light so that it does not protrude lower than the towbar.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, really appreciate it.

I read that the BA/BF Falcon utes actually use the same housing design, so they might be plug and play. Anyone know if thats true?

I like this idea - I take it you did this Simon? If so, which LED's did you go with? Do you happen to have any photos?

Adrian,

yes, I've done the remote reversing light thing.

Used these from eBay:

2pcs 27W LED Work Spot Pencil Offroads UTE Boat Lamp Light Truck 12V 24V 4WD 4x4 | eBay

I've got the trailer plug, anderson plug, reversing camera all above the bottom of the tow bar. The reversing lights are mounted on stock bumper bolts, I had to grind off slots in the lamp body to allow the head of the stock bolt to recess into the lamp. Not hard, and the best reversing lamps!

Well the truck is here.

I've been wiring up the indicators for an engineer to come and inspect it tomorrow (in Vic you need a VASS inspection on all imports), before getting compliance plate made and roadworthy.

Anyway I discovered the hard way that its not that easy. I wired the brake lights directly off the brake switch, using the old indicator/brake light wire to power the indicators which now reside in the reverse light socket. Encountered a couple of issues, one minor, the other major.

1. No one sells amber 921 bulbs in Australia - at least that I could find. I have some coming from the US.
2. It has set off a fault in the advance trac/ABS module which obviously uses the brake light switch, and the vehicle now won't change out of first gear in drive (I can manually change in manual mode). Subsequently after a lot of research I have ordered one of these:
Amazon.com: Curt Manufacturing 56196 Converter: Automotive Amazon.com: Curt Manufacturing 56196 Converter: Automotive
which should break the existing "stop light"/"indicator" light combination into 2 usable signals.

Hopefully that can help anyone else that encounters this.
I'm also working with the place that did the conversion because my climate control isn't working correctly atm.

If the 921 bulbs are clear, you can paint them with orange varnish to make the indicators flash orange varnish to get the bulb to flash orange.

With the stock US truck, the brake light flashes on the indicated side - presumably flashing off if the brakes are on, or flashing on if the brakes are off.

Would it be possible to leave the stock brake indicator alone and splice into the L & R indicator wires under the steering column to run new indicator feed wires to your amber bulbs in the reverse light position? Seperating the feeds out at the source.
