Speedo Woes
Here's the story, In the midst and excitement of throwing the original trans. back into my truck ('65 short bed, 352) I failed to properly install the speedo cable. What I mean by that, is I plugged the speedo gear into the trans, but could not find a bolt to hold it securely..so of course I said "I'd do it later".
I took it out for a quick spin today and the speedo went to 0 going down the road. I thought ohh the cable just popped out. Upon inspection, the cable was still in the trans. I quickly traced the cable up ads far as I could, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Do you guys have any ideas on this issue?
If the bracket of the speedo cable is not bolted to the trans, the DRIVEN gear will not make contact with the speedometer DRIVE gear that is located on the output shaft.
