It's been a while, but I just had to post this. My F-250 has been in the shop since last Friday, needing some new injectors and some other things.

Well, they finished the work Wednesday, but wanted to keep it overnight yet to confirm that it started correctly when cold, which was one of the concerns I had. Obviously Thursday kind of turned into a mess.

So, they called me Thursday morning and said the shop was closed, to which I said, "I figured it would be." Then he asked, "Do you need the truck today?" I had to laugh, and I said, "I'd need the truck to come pick it up." He laughed, and I told him that, no, we really didn't need it.

I'm hoping we get it back tonight... we'll see.

Who is doing the work for you? Would be interested in getting a review of your experience with that shop? Was it them who diagnosed the injectors? How was your FICM? Do you have a way to monitor your engine like a ScanGauge?

Maryland Auto & Truck Repair in Glen Burnie. So far they seem quite competent and familiar with the 6.0. They did diagnose the injectors, but it was pretty obvious that some of cylinders weren't firing when it was cold. Even stalled on me once.

They also told me two injectors on the other side (they replaced the 2,4,6,8 injectors, but not the 1,3,5,7) aren't firing for the first 15 seconds or so after starting it, so they'll need to be replaced at some point in the future. I declined that for now; maybe this fall we'll have them do it.

FICM voltage was 47.5-48.5 during the hour or so I monitored it. I got a ScanGuage last week and set it up, but then I dropped off the truck last Friday. They did find that the FICM and some other modules didn't have the latest software, so they did those updates.

For a review, it'll have to wait until we can tow our trailer some place with some hills to see if it's still blowing coolant out..that was the bigger issue we were having. Fortunately there are no exhaust gasses in the coolant so the head gaskets are likely fine. They updated the FICM and reduced the coolant level (apparently "Max" is a bit different than I'm used to), so we'll see how it goes.

Picking it up tonight! A week ago I was ready to strangle the thing...now I can't wait to have it back. Ahhhh, Ford...

I had to have my oil and egr coolers replaced as well as head gaskets. Had studs installed instead of Ford's torque to yield headbolts put in at the same time. It was blowing coolant out the degas bottle while pulling the 5th wheel. Been great since. I was lucky...had the Ford ESP warranty at the time. I renewed it again since....just in case!
