Now I'm getting a code 998

I have a '92 F-150 with a 302 in it and for the past year I have just been searching the posts for answers to my problems but now I have a real problem I think. After changing all of the sensors and continuously checking the codes, I had my rough idle and poor fuel mileage problem narrowed down to the TPS in my truck. When I took off the throttle body, I saw some oil in there and decided to check the breather element and air filter....replaced those along with the TPS...cleaned everything up...reset the computer and fired her up and I have to say I was quite pleased with the results up until 5 minutes into the test drive. I stalled and had a hard time keeping it running whenever I put it in gear.(check engine light came on) The tranny started shifting hard so I limped home and ran the codes again only to see the code 998 which means it's running on default settings right? Can anyone help me with this problem?
