Does any know when Ford switched over to the vacuum controlled vent control system from the mechanical lever and cable type system. I know my 92 F250 is vacuum controlled, but I have a buddy with a 92 Bronco that is stuck on the vents.

I am thinking it was in the 1970's but may have been a lot before that.
I know my 1982 has the vacuum controlled vents. It seems when the A/C vents were factory installed on the dash they went to the vacuum controlled vents.
I think the late 1940's still had the lever to open the vent in front of the windshield.
I do not recall any having a cable controlled dash vent system but from the 1950's and for some time after that there was a lever and cable to move the heated air from the floor to the windshield.
92 Bronco should have the same setup as 92+ pickups... the Panel/Floor/Defrost selections are vacuum-actuated but the temperature blend door uses a mechanical cable.
This is actually on an 82 Bronco. The vents are stuck in the dash vent position, it will not switch to floor or defrost. When you try to change the selector to another position it does not move. The vacuum lines are good and the lines and diaphragm hold vacuum
