Wake Me Up!

So i have a 74 ford f100 with a 76 460 in it, and I was wondering what I could do to wake her up a little bit. She is stock as far as I know, with some tune up work done. I want to spend around 500-600$ to do some easier engine work. I don't want to have to tear the engine apart, just do some things to get some HP and torque gains. What can I do to wake up this beast???

1. Headers and dual exhaust. Use 2.5-inch tubes and free-flowing mufflers.

1.1 Open element air cleaner housing and K&N filter (or equivalent).

2.1 4V intake and 600-650 cfm carb with vacuum secondaries; OR,
2.2 4V intake, 750 cfm carb with vacuum secondaries, and a mild cam.

3. 50 HP shot of NOS.... just for fun of course.

Quick and easy is the air filter, then intake and carb. A couple of hrs and your are done. Open up the exhaust less restrictive mufflers, might as well go with headers since you are right there.

The headers will required some exhaust re-work and that can be more $$ in the end, but its only $.

If you crack it open for a cam install, might as well do a straight up timing set and a new water pump.

Only thing better than NOS, is a GF that owns her own liquor store and 79 Ford truck. lol

It is all about airflow IN and OUT. I would do things in this order as you get the funds:

1) Headers and exhaust - probably the most expensive but need to do it first.

2) Aftermarket intake - can likely find some used ones on craigslist for cheap if you look around for a while.

3) Cam - nothing too crazy - intake and exhaust duration around 220°

Should wake the motor up quite a bit.

Or you could hook get a used turbo from an older cummins and plumb it up. I have seen some videos on Youtube of people doing this to 400M engines.
