302 EFI Conversion
The Ebay setup sure looks cool. But what is it you really want? The ad says "no hesitation and great fuel economy". Take it from an old wrench, good old fashioned carburetors don't hesitate when they are in good repair and operating correctly. And fuel economy?? What exactly does the Ebay ad mean when it talks about fuel economy? Are they telling you that you'll have good response and performance and good economy to boot? Isn't there a little part of you that says that's just a big fat lie? There should be.
Up until the 80's, all cars had carburetors. Most of the time they worked great. Good mechanics could fix em when they went south. But good mechanics were hard to find. So carburetors sometimes get a bad rap.
The fuel injection setup looks cool. But for $1000 I could probably set you up with a blower. Unless you have a good reason for wanting fuel injection - spend your "looks cool" money on wheels and tires, or a new camshaft and headers with dual exhaust. Having fuel injection instead of a carb isn't gonna make you feel too cool 6 months or a year later. Especially when a sensor or the computer goes out and you don't know how to begin diagnosing it. Then take it to the dealer and realize they can't diagnose a non-factory car either.
If you have the knowledge of what it takes to make the fuel injection work, and can do your own fabrication to things that don't quite fit, then I would convert it over.
Just a quick note, you would want a EFI set-up off of a big car( LTD, Town Car, ETC) You do not want one off of a Mustang or a LSC Mark VII Lincoln. These use the 351 firing order and are sequential EFI. The others use the standard 302 firing order and are batch fired. Plus you would either have to change the distributor or find a different gear because the HO motors have roller cams and use a different gear. If you use it in a non-HO motor, it will wear out rather quickly. Oh, yeah, you can also use a T-Bird or Cougar 5.0, they are also non-roller.
