Crafty or ...?
Was in a Costco parking lot when this car pulled in:
Kind of feel bad for the lady and mother getting out of the car, but, it looks like whoever did this spent some money for the metal, lights, etc.; or, they work with diamond plating.
Anyways, thought I'd share it with ya'll.

rear end collision that totaled the car, no collision insurance, and that was the cheapest way to fix it.

Yeah, looks like lots of detail like the trunk lip, possibly, so rain don't get in.

i would put money on the fact there was no insurance settlement because they had liability only coverage, or no insurance at all on the car.

If they had the skill to fab that in diamond plate, why didn't they just fix the stock sheet-metal themselves?

3 1/16 thick 4X8 sheets diamond plat only costs around $330.
and i bet they did not even use 2 1/2 sheets to do the build.

We have far more than our fair share of uninsured motorists in California. Good point.

looks to me like they needed a work truck and didn't want to sacrifice mpg's,so they compromised.
