hey, my 81 ford has factory air conditioning, and works, but when I turn it on it kicks on and off about every second, and blows warm air. Does it just need to be re-juiced, or should I just take it off the truck. If I take it off will it add much more power? Is having it re-juiced costly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
More then Likely it needs recharging. For about $15 you can go to Wal-mart and get everything to swap it over and charge it with 134a. I recharged mine 2 years ago with this kit and haven't had any trouble with it. Sure makes the Hot Texas days Nice.
You can buy R-12 but its like 50 bucks a pound and need a license to buy it. The conversion kit should work if you lines are not rusted, I tried to convert my 90 F250 and twisted the line off trying to change the orifice. No Air for me this summer!
