I found a set of these take offs with under 50miles. Cmpany bought a fleet and took all these off the new trucks. Asking 400 can probably get them for less. Ive had my bfg ta in the same size and been happy with them. Ive got 50,000 miles on and lost one to road debri so need new tires but dont want to blow alot of money.
How bad will "ht" be i live up a dirt drive and the bfg ta do slip a bit getting up but i just maintain momentum and i make it. Will these be totally helpless in snow as well or will 4wd make up for it?
Ive dented up the truck too much using it in the field so i got a trailer and use the tractor now for firewood etc so i dont beat up my truck. I can limit the truck to only going in the field when itd very dry and solid if at all
I do like the price and wonder if the HT wouldnt get me a little more mpg as well?

I had destination ATs on my truck when I bought it. I drove them for 6 months and then got rid of them for bfg ATKO. In my opinion they don't handle well in snow or wet. But they did have decent dry traction and got very good mpg over the bfgs.
I can't say that if you have issues with an bfg rugged terrain I would switch to something with less offroad capability but if the price is right it can't hurt to try. For 400$ you could always resell them in a few months if they end up being not right for your particular situation
my personal opinion of those tires is, they suck.
they wear forever, but you will get stuck on wet grass.
i had them on my 02 for 6 months before i finally had enough of them and gave them away to a guy who needed tires to keep his parts truck from sitting in the dirt.
my 02 is a 4 wheel drive.
1/4 inch of snow and you sit there waiting for someone to pull you up the hill.
and forget trying to pull out into traffic on a wet road. the tires will just loose traction and spin.
To me it depends on how much traffic is in your area. I have HTs on my 250 but live in very low traffic area so pulling out into traffic is not an issue. Haven't had them on heavy snow yet but light snow, frost and a little ice I've been OK if I keep my foot in check.
Will say on ice I usually have to use 4x as when the turbo kicks in I can easily get wheel spin on the back. (Truck bed is loaded with 600 lbs of sand tubes over the axel so not super light but still fairly light.)
I think they'll do just fine. I've always done fine with highway treaded tires, and the few times I've had "all terrain" tires I've never noticed much of an improvement in any conditions I ever see.
Has anyone seen a snow tire with an aggressive, off-road tread? Yeah me neither. Tread patterns that look good don't do well in all conditions. I happen to like highway tires.
I certainly like the price and treadlife. Anyone have any ideas on mpg vs a AT? Seems like it would do a little better.
My concern is my job is open EvERY day been there 11 years and not closed once for weather. So i need to be able to get in regardless of snow, and the wet grass comments give me no confidence!!
If you need to get there everyday in whatever weather, i would steer far from those tires. Yes they are cheap but do you really want the daily headache of trying to drive on crappy highway tires in the snow? My M+S Toyo Mts do great in the snow...but they are also not cheap. Lots of people liking the cooper at3 i believe as well
They are on my truck as a 'gift' from the dealer. In snow - well let's say I can't get up the very mild slope driveway without 4WD. Put the brakes on in that snow, the fronts slide. Wet weather, don't punch that diesel too hard. Take a look on Tire Rack and the reviews. They are wearing well though. The Kumho's I had on the '06 were way better traction wise then the Bridgestone-Firestones. But at $100/each - they could be worth a try especially if there was ~100% tread (make them a lower offer - ya never know)
