Correct is when the grill and bumper and guard is painted correct Wimbledon white, not gloss white, and when black trim paint is present in grill for the "floating design effect". Also, mirror brackets and heads should be light gloss gray, not gloss white.

I did not know the black trim paint was also used on the painted grills; I thought it was only used on the aluminum grills.

Also: was there or was there not black trim paint behind the F-O-R-D chrome letters located above the grill?

I did not know the mirror brackets and heads were light gloss gray and not white.
Was that the case with all '65 F100/250s or just the '65 F100 4X4s?
Thanks for the lesson in Slick Details, TF!

I have seen the gloss gray on some NOS replacement mirrors.

On my '61 F-350 (bought new by our penny-pinching family business), the outside rearview mirrors are of the telescoping variety. The 5"x8" heads are mis-matched replacements but the telescoping arms are perfectly matched, have never been repainted, and match the "patina" of the truck. They are white. I've not compounded or waxed them to determine the precise color, but I've presumed they were Corinthian White, or something similar.

I'm willing to ignore the 1961 Ford Truck brochure -- which shows white outside mirrors -- but I find it hard to believe anyone in our family business would replace both telescopic mirror arms at the same time!

So...what is the authority for the gray? I certainly respect your expertise -- and I want to return this truck back to its original appearance -- but before I change the long-standing appearance of its mirrors, I'm hoping for a clear source for the gray color. (The photo slightly mis-represents the white; it is a creamy off-white.)

Thanks and regards,

Steve

tripleframe is referring to this 1965 4WD's "Western Junior" mirrors, that were painted gray originally.

The telescoping mirrors fit into the door slots, there was another version that didn't telescope. These mirrors were white. See post #22 in 'side mirror' sticky on the first page of this forum.

Got it, Bill,

Apples and oranges!

And, yes, as in post #22 of the mirror thread, I have the painted telescoping mirrors with 5"x8" heads.

Thanks and regards,

Steve

Hate to revive an old thread here, but this seems most relevant. Is the brush guard in this link for a 61-64?
