So my 01 got a used motor two weeks ago and today just before 1 k miles..motor had 47 k.now plus one. Driving down the street I got up to speed just fine and then it was like truck died and kept restarting I pulled over it idled fine got back up to speed 45 mph and it did it again. I shifted into neutral and it died can not get it to restart...can't take it back to shop unless its their fault... Took fuel rail off and there is fuel don't know how to check spark on my 01 5.4 any help would be appreciated. Did fuel filter regulator about 22 k ago should be fine I would think...please
Start by checking for any trouble codes. Should be at least one by this point.
Seems like the problem got gradually worse, until the engine would no longer run. May be something as simple as a loose harness connection, or a loose ground strap on the block. If everything on the replacement engine was EXACTLY the same as the original engine, then the issue probably is external of the engine itself. If most of, but not quite everything on the new engine matched up, you may need to have the PCM flashed.
In the meantime, check all the fuses, especially anything related to ignition or PCM. By all means though, have the PCM scanned for some error codes. If you can get anything at all, at least you will know where to look.
