Power Steering Pump Bypass
I have a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 7.3 diesel that I tow behind my motor home. Towing without the power steering pump running creates a problem and is eating my pumps. The pressure from the wheels turning is pushing fluid forcing it thru the pump. No problem refilling the pump. But, it is becoming more noisey as time goes on. I replaced the pump last year and just figured out what is going on. Has anyone outhere ever made a bypass hose with a on off valve where the fluid can flow from supply to return without going thru the pump while towing?
