side mirrors

I have a 96 f150 and it has the black plastic mirrors I'm wanting a set of the older metal mirrors that's like the kind with two arms but the plastic ones now have some sort of arm coming out of the back so idk what to do about thw hole for the arm if I try to switch the mirrors to the other style any suggestions?????

Do you mean the part that is secured to the inside of the door with a bolt?

If you want the low-mount mirrors, the mounting holes for your current mirrors won't work. You'll have to drill four new holes per door, possibly install new threaded inserts, and fill the factory holes...and then you'd still have the hole in the inside of the door to worry about. It might be less work to just find a set of doors that have the mirrors you want, especially if your truck doesn't have power windows and/or you're planning a repaint.
