Swapping Mirrors

I've got a 97 F250 HD Crew Cab with power mirrors. The mirrors are not wide enough when pulling our fifth wheel so I added some **** extensions. They are pretty miserable (small mirrors and lots of vibration). I'd like to go all out and put on the full blown towing mirrors from Ford. Does anyone know if these mirrors will cover the existing holes in the door and will they use the same mounting holes? I realize I'll have to put two new holes in the middle of the door for the lower legs. Any idea what I'd have to pay for these? Salvage yard maybe? Anyone want to swap?

Thanks, Rob

Swapping Mirrors

My dad had the factory swingaway mirrors on his F-250 replaced and put the towing mirrors on it I think you have to drill all new holes. We had ours done at a body shop so the old holes were filled in. As for finding them i'm sure you could pick up a set fairly cheap at a salvage yard.

Thanks for the input. I've since found a set of brand new mirrors really cheap. Turns out they were for an Econoline, not an F-Series. I was able to bend the upper mount a bit and they work (and look) fine. I used one existing hole and drilled new for the other three. The upper mount and plastic gasket cover all but a hair line of the old holes. Ford does sell the mirrors new as a kit for about $200.
