Hi fellas, in need of help. Ive got a 99 302 gt40p engine off an explorer ive want to use in my 76 f150. Need help finding some long tube headers that fit, upgrade on camshaft and valve springs. My truck is a short bed, 2wd, with p/s and a/c. Any help and suggestions would help. Thanks...
Things worth mentioning: I bought a cut to fit set of 8.5mm spark plug wires from jegs with bendable socket ends. The last picture there shows you where the header flange needs clearance so you have sparkplug socket room to remove spark plugs without header removal. You can kind of see a scratch through the rust spot on the flange next to the plug boot that material needs to come off.
On edit: Forgot, I just went to napa and got a set of gaskets for a 302.
I too went with the summit headers..tight fit in my 73 with gt40p's. I did have to trim the passenger side motor mount to make some clearance for them..and had to trim down the flanges as well, all in all for the price not a bad set imho
Sure is clean though . How much difference did you gain with the P's do you think ?
Growing up around the dragstrip , I remember seeing headers that were blue and some were orange , besides the average black and silver or wrapped .
Its a wonder companies don't do that anymore , with all the retro and nostalgia rage .
yeah that engine sure looked a lot bigger outside the truck.
As far as gains with the P's i don't have any numbers yet the old girl is still up on blocks.
