2002 ranger anti theft feature
Hello folks, normally on the 7.3 SD side but also have an '02 ranger. Accidentally hit the "panic button" on the fob yesterday and now a no start. Don't know if I activated the anti theft feature or not. I have done this in the past and not had any problem. Just hit the panic button to stop the alarm (horn). Went back out about an hour later and no start, engine turns over fine as always but no fire. It was sitting for about two weeks and I have had a CEL light of an 02 sensor problem for a while but zero running issues.
Has the 02 sensor caught up with me or do I need to do some sort of reset procedure for the anti-theft?
Thanks, Mike

Is the theft light blinking slow or fast???? If slow/normal blink, anti-theft isn't likely the problem.
Raise the hood & use your multimeter to check battery voltage while its being cranked. If voltage is too low it might not start, so slooooowly recharge the battery, say at 4-6 amps, to bring it back up to a full charge.
If under load battery voltage is ok, are the in dash warning lights lit up for their self check at KOEO, before you crank the engine???? If not, look in the under hood power distribution box for the ECM power relay & give it a thump, to see if it'll wake up. If no joy, try swapping it with a known good relay not needed to run the engine, like the A/C power relay & see how it goes.
If all thats ok, at KOEO can you hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds to build fuel pressure for a start & turn off??? If not, the fuel pump power relay also is in the under hood power distribution box, so try the thump or swap proceedure on it. Your owners manual will indicate power relay & fuse locations.
If all thats ok, look for a relay above/in front of the #1 power relay & thump it, or swap it out with a known good one.
If still no joy, it takes air, compression, fuel & spark to make em run, so use your fuel pressure gauge & inductive timing light so see whats going missing & let us know how it goes.

Well she is up and running. Had some fung on the battery terminals but after cleaning the cranking speed was the same - ~ 800 RMP or so. Cranked for about 2 -3 seconds and fired right up and ran great. Codes from AE were P 0172 & 0175 bank 1 & 2 too rich but after starting the CEL went out on it's own, did not clear from AE. Don't think it was a low battery voltage issue but who knows at this point.
