I have a strange knocking on the floorboard when I turn the wheel, anybody else had this? Doesnt happen all the time just occasionally, but it is annoying. Where should I start looking first?
Had this on my 93. One of the rivets that hold the spindle assembly to the frame had popped out. I realigned the holes with a tapered drift and replaced the rivet with a 5/8 grade 8 bolt and tightened that sucker as much as I could. It could also just be the coil spring shifting in its seat.
I've heard people recommend you check the bolts by the hood springs. They come loose sometimes and when the body flexes the panels make a noise. I don't know, just parroting something I remember reading.

^^^ X2 ^^^ Check these first before going through expensive suspension work, ask me how I know. Especially if the occurs more going over uneven services ...
Not hood, it also happens sitting still on level ground, turn the wheel and it bangs on the floor. Seems like it should be something in the steering, but what?

My drag link is worn and is clunks some of the time. Maybe check that and see how much wear is in place.

I know you just did your glow plugs.....did you have the down pipe loose for anything?
Suspension is good and I did not have the pipes loose. It literally feels like it is hitting the floor and it does it when I turn the wheel, only when I turn the wheel.
My 96 eclb had a popping when turning.it had one of the rivets that held the engine xmember to the frame rail.it was one of the big ones at the corners.I may have welded the frame to the xmember lol...it fixed it at least

I will check that, I was thinking about it yesterday and wondered if it is at the steering box and the knocking is being transmitted thru the frame, making it sound like it is hitting the floor.
It is getting worse, started out just occasional noise, now it is all the time. I have got to find this problem before something falls off that shouldnt. Maybe I can crawl under it this weekend and give it a good exam, if it will warm up that is. My garage is mother nature so I am at her mercy.
