Question direct drop in

is there a direct drop in for R-12........you know without changing the oil or hoses or anything .........how long would it hold up if i dropped in 134-a............what about something like mp-39

There is no easy fix.

Here is an answer to your question I found on an A/C board:

"The final reaction would be a new compressor, drier/accumulator and a whole lot more work. R134a doesn't carry the mineral oil, so the compressor will starve and burn up causing the debris from the piston rings to travel thru the system, clogging the other parts".

Use you own discretion.
