Anyone seen this stuff? Is it legit?
Called ES12A, or EnviroSafe.
Apparently you evacuate the R12 or R134 - whatever you have, the oils is fine, regardless of what oil is in there....
And install this stuff 1/3 of original R12 capacity...
Couple questions:
1: Is this stuff legit, and does it work as the maker claim?
2: What is the proper fill of an 89 Aerostar v6 AC unit?
If this indeed is a legit kit, it looks nice... you can get a leak-patch can (to stop them annoying slow leaks that take a year to notice) and a dye kit to trace out leaks, as well as the valves etc. etc. to charge yer system with this new stuff... The site claims it is more effecient than R12 or 134....
You have to be careful with a lot of this no-name type stuff. Some is made in Mexico, and loaded with propane. You're better off biting the bullet and staying with R-12 or switching over to R-134 and have a somewhat normal A/C.
well, R12 is illegal here.. can;t get it anymore (Canada) and the conversion to 134a is a bit heavier on the budget than I can dish out (shops are talkin 500 - 800 bux to do it)
I was hoping there was a viable alternative.... (and considering the Van has 188K on it, and is acting up a fair bit, I don;t think it is gonna be on the road much more than year anyhow.... - so worst case, the conversion blows the AC unit (hopefully when the weather cools down)
Right? or no?
The least you'll have to do to convert to 134 is a new accumulator/drier, new green seals, flush the complete system, install the proper oil, vacuum, and refill with 134. Depending on the price of the drier, it should be pretty cheap if you do it yourself.
