I have a 93 F-150. It has a 302 with the E4OD in it. I'm redoing the truck and putting in a 351 stroker motor(427ci). I would like to swap to a manual tranny and have the t56 six speed in mind. Would this be a possible swap or would i have to make custom crossmembers and clutch linkages. I'm not worried about the computer because it will be changed anyway, i'm more concerned with the mechanics of it. Also does my truck have a pan in the floor where the shift would come though or would it have to be cut. If anyone has swap to a manual on this generation of trucks or has any info please e-mail me at Sternal2000(No Email Addresses In Posts!) or reply back. Thank you for any help.... Ryan
I just did the opposite swap. 5sp to E40D. The six speed is going to make things more difficult since it never came stock. You will need the clutch pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder, you will most likely need to cut a hole in the firewall unless there is a block off plate there now, look to the left (passenger side) of the brake booster. Besides the transmission harness, I had to change the COMPLETE underhood wiring harness so I could wire the transmission into the computer. My manual trans underhood wire harness did not have the proper connections. You might not run into this problem...
The underdash wiring harness is the same for auto and manual trucks. The auto truck will have the connector that goes on the clutch master cylinder for the neutral cut off switch, look for it above the gas pedal. It will have a loop back connector on it on the auto car, you would remove the loop back and then hook it up to the switch on the clutch cylinder shaft.
Yes their is a plate in the floor that you can get from a truck that had a manual (or just cut a hole in the one you have) and swap it over. Then you will need the crossmember, which will most likely need to be custom.
The biggest pain is going to be the clutch, find a parts truck!
