That sucks Shane. Seems to be a rash of break-ins over at the .org too, especially in Texas. There was a thread floating around there about a FICM kill switch.
I'll go ahead and say it before others do. Why'd you leave your carry piece in your truck? Also the stereo sucks brother, that is one thing thats so annoying. There is only so much you can do to protect your truck short of putting in bulletproof glass and upgraded doors, the thief will get in.
So I will provide you with some ways forward so maybe you can prevent this next time. Look at jimmi jammers, basically just taking the rod out of your doors, so the only way to get in is with your remote. It's dumb man, I just don't leave stuff out in my truck, obviously you couldn't have prevented it with your stereo. Sorry for the loss, let us know what you do and how you come out.
Thanks guys! The fact is my employer will not allow us to carry in the building so it has to stay in the vehicle. My bad for leaving it where it was handy to get to...
Below are some pics. We have video surveillance of the Astro Van, but the license plate is unclear. Hopefully the police has some technology to help with that....
Wow! Atleast report the weapon stolen to the police and start checking craigslist and all the pawnshops. Man does that **** me off. I would take it up with your employer to try and allow concealed carry and ask him to look at what happened and how are you supposed to feel safe when your own vehicle gets broken into. I also would ask the employer to cover some of it because it happened on their property. My thoughts. Bit of a stretch, but worth a try.
Man I'd be pissed too. That's messed up. Did the cops get any good finger prints? Why did they yank the dash bezel off?
No, nothing like that.... I gave them the serial number off of the gun, so it is reported as stolen. With any luck, I will get that back down the road...
They left the screw driver in my brothers truck... I was thinking he at least got something out of the deal, but the officer took it for evidence..
I know this doesn't matter, but what kind of gun was it? Glock? So on my truck the only handle that has a lock cylinder is the drivers and I am looking at replacing that with a door handle like the rear door. Is your INS gonna cover the damage to the truck? Looks like he was trying to steal the truck. Might I suggest Ravelco? 4 million sold and not one truck stolen.

It was a S&W Air Weight 38. I actually bought this truck with a broken door handle and lock. Someone attempted this when the previous owner was at a restaurant. He walked out and scared them off. Anyway bought a new door handle and lock and had it painted by a local dealer. Guess I will buy a rear door handle this time. I have been reading about the Jimmi Jammer, but dang at that point the door will be jacked up and the window will end up getting busted... I am thinking the door handle and lock is cheaper... ??
No at the end of the day the Insurance Co doesn't cover aftermarket stereos and the gun would be covered under home owners insurance which has a $1000 ded. So I get to eat it all.....
But my contact at Ford is able to score me a bezel from a dealer in Fl for half price because its been on the shelf for a long time. That's about the extent of the upside....
