Well do you have Oil Flow to the Filter housing when cranked??

Hold the black drain down and have someone crank

Low oil pressure is an idiot-light based on the reading from the oil pressure switch, which only feeds the dash cluster. So if the switch is holding oil into the filter housing and not letting it spew out of the engine, that's not the root cause. The switch is set to read "full" above 7psi and "zero" at 6psi while the mechanical regulator on the LPOP is set to 75psi, so it might have been the switch picked up a massive drop in low-pressure oil pressure immediately before the HPOP starved. Unless you were watching ICPV tank and IPR% spike while it died, there wouldn't be any other sensors to pick up a complete loss of oil pressure.

Do what benny said, see if the oil filter housing fills while cranking.

You will want to look at ICP and IPR rather then temperatures at this point.

Maybe the oil pressure gauge actually did it's job when the truck ran out of oil?? Out of oil = shutdown.

just an idea.

Sorry Bryan, I should have read your post better--LOL.

There's the drain and an anti-drain back.

Time to start looking at the LPOP regulator then.
