Hi all driving home tonite 65 mph in my 03 f250 6.0 auto fx4 cc long bed started rolling grayish white smoke smells strongly like diesel . Ideals rough like at least one cyl is off . I have been thinking I had a possible FICm issue building last three cold starts it ran rough for a couple minutes it seams to run fine down the road except for smoke screen no check engine lite I do have a warranty so tomorrow it will go to dealer . If a injector quit shouldn't it turn engine lite on? In the a.m. I'll check to make sure all fluids are where they should be . Any educated guesses . Thanks
Just guessing but if you had an overfuel, the smoke would be black. Possible turbo seal went out causing that color of smoke. You need to get some sort of monitor on it to see what your 3 ficm voltages are. Got one? might want to also pull egr valve and check that out also.
When mine did that I found it was an injector, bubble test showed me which one. No light or hidden code showed up either.

Thanks for the tips I'll try a bubble test I believe it Is unburnt fuel like the white smoke if a diesel won't start in my tropical climate of northwest Colorado
We'll got truck to dealer the dealer in town closest to me doesn't work on diesels how the ---- are they a ford dealer and not work on diesel So had to call road side to have it towed from one dealer to one that works on diesels 40 miles away but no news yet .
Wow, that's frustrating. At least the dealer didn't try and fix it, THEN tell you they don't really work on diesels. Sort of a silver lining there. Hope all goes well for you and your truck.
That is true at least they were honest . The dealership it is at has a tech whith a good rep on the 6.0 glad I bought a warranty I'll post when I know something .
Got the call from dealership today three injectors three glow plugs and glow plug harness .that will all be coverd under warranty they want to replace the other six glow plugs I think they are just up selling . Just can't see how running perfect down the road and instantly a skeeter fogger . Love the truck but I've only put 6000 miles on it since I bought it in April last year 2400 in repairs for that few miles scares me . What do you fellows think about changing the rest of the glow plugs like the dealer wants ? Thanks
Unless they are really marking them up glow plugs aren't too expensive. Talk to the service manager. (Nicely) if they are sayin the harness is bad bring up the point that it may have weakend or damage the other glow plugs seei f you can weasel labor out of him at least.
Do them in a set. If 3 are bad, the other 5 five seen the same cycles and use. Do them and you know what you have. Injectors may have been a fuel pressure issue. Which 3 are they?
So just got of the phone with service manager after the three injectors and 8 glow plugs . By the way the six and three thing was a typo any how number five has a dead miss wants to pull the head off . The tip was blown off injector glow plug broken . Can't they look with a scope through g.p. hole to see if piece is stuck under valve . It was injectors 3-5&7 that were bad . Dealer is 95 miles from me hope I'm not being taken for a ride.
