2010 parking brake
I have found a TSB and several articles about the parking brake causing a rubbing noise or vibration for the previous generation ('04-'08) trucks, but nothing about the '09 and newer trucks. Is there one?
I have been experiencing a rubbing noise intermittently for a few months. The dealer has not been able to replicate it, and I don't know if they even looked at the parking brake.
Last week, I removed the rear rotors and noticed that the parking brake drum-in-rotor had some rust with slight pitting. I adjusted the shoes in a bit, and the rubbing went away for a few days. I am assuming the self-adjuster has caused the shoes to move out too far again, causing the noise.
In the TSB for the previous generation trucks, the adjuster spring may have been installed incorrectly from the factory. I have been unable to find any pictures of how the spring should be installed for comparison to mine. Does anyone have pics of what the parking brake self-adjuster spring and hardware should look like?
