I have moved this post from another forum in which I received no response. Surely someone here can answer me. . .
In changing my Dana 60 (working on an '84 F-250 4x4) to a 10.25 Sterling (from an '89 F-250) I have noticed that the wheel studs are larger on the Sterling. Is the size difference due to the year difference, or a possible difference between HD F-250 and LD F-250 (the '84 is an LD)?
Also, can I drill my front hubs out to match the now larger rears?
1970's F250's got smaller lugs, F350's got bigger lugs. At some point, Ford started using the bigger lugs on both trucks (or at least on F250HD's). To change your front lugs, you should be able to use hubs for a SRW (SingleRearWheel) F350. (A dually F350 will have front hubs that take the extreme offset dually wheels.)
If you want to keep your front hubs, I suppose it is possible to drill and install bigger lugs.
