The Bronco gets up and goes pretty good with just an Offy intake, 4v, DSII, and EFI exhaust manifolds. Pushes along at ~85 on the highway real nice too.
A 300 in stockish form isn't necessarily a world-beater, but it shouldn't be a dog.
SumB, is that a manual or automatic in your truck?
SKAR/ SUM-B my 1985 was purchased new in 1984, original engine until last winter when the timing chain stripped had over 500,000 miles, rebuilt the engine and did away with the stock carb , rewired, new dizzy , added the Clifford-6=8 headers, weber 2 bar. carb, dual exhaust, did some interior work (paint)seat redone not to mention other minor things. Its impressive with the torque and top end , I can actually get on the interstate and run 100 with the other fools. I take it easy being an older truck, but the power is there .I still love driving it after all the years owning it and more mods are in the near future, paint new wheels , tires etc. Everything takes $$$$$, if I didn't own a bronco and two HD motorcycles it would be closer to being finished .But wait do we ever finish TR

Rogue Wulff
Noticed that you have a 1980 300 C6
Recently acquired a 1980 300 C6 to replace the 390 in 1973 F250 with 4.10:1 rear. The sticker in the door read build date Dec 1980.
Question: Does your engine have the tapped air injector ports in the cylinder head and a smog pump.
My front engine pulley has three grooves.
Does your pulley have three grooves?
I was just wondering where i can find stats on F250 engine choices? I have a 300 in my 2wd and people are trying to tell me that never happened I know the dually conversion was done to it but they are telling me that my truck was rebadged after the conversion but to make a eight bolt on the front? ?? please help

Well a lot depends on what age the truck is. The 300 came in everything from F100-F600's from 1965+ and 1980+ Full size Bronco's.
someone said my 88 F250 wasn't built with a 300 6cylinder and is rebadged f150? ? but why would my front discs be eight bolt? seems kinda pointless if it was a f150 to do all that.

Why not check your truck's VIN # on a decoder? That will tell you what your truck is and what engine it came with. But anyone that says a 300 never came in a F250 is full of crap! They also came in a lot bigger trucks then a F250. I've personally owned a F350 dually that came stock with a 300 in it.

x2 ... anyone who claims that the f250 never came with a 300 from the factory is talking about something that they know nothing about ... period.
Ford man , thanks for the correction timing gears , no chain, the motor had 538000 miles , am so glad to be away from the carter 1 bbl feedback carb. Next is body work and paint. TR
I've been logging my fuel economy. I'll do things like drive hard or drive easy and compare. The absolute worst city MPG I was able to get (constantly flooring it, late shifting, getting sideways in the rain, burnouts...) was 15.5mpg over about 200 miles with a 45-year-old engine. I'd say that's pretty good.
Oh, and did I mention my spark advance/retard isn't working right?
Right now, all I have are headers on the truck and it goes pretty good. The 300 is by no means a dog.
