I am replacing the gas tank and fuel lines on my 73 F100 and cannot find a replacement for the carbon canister mounted on the frame towards the front of the vehicle. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement or cleanout and refill the canister, or should I just replace the tank with one that doesn't have the emissions/vent hole?
If it were me, I'd replace the tank with one with the emissions vent. If you ever want to sell the truck, that may become an issue. I don't know how things are in your part of the country but out here in California any vehicle a person sells has to have the orginal emissions equipment on at the time of sale, even if it is an older vehicle and smog excempt.
If you can't find a canister to hook up your vent line to now, just plug the line off at the tank and use a vented gas cap. You can always hook up the canister and vent line at a later date when ever you find one.
