I posted a few days ago about stereo stuff for my superduty. Thanks for all the help.
One more question and I should be ready to go!!
When I put my deck in I won't be putting in the sub and amp at the same time. (too much $$$ at once) While the deck is out should I run the wires (which ones?) for the sub/amp? Will it hurt anything for them not to be attached to anything else at the other end?
You would want to run the preamp wire and no it wont hurt anything as long as you tape off the other end so it doesn't ground out. You can wait to run the power wire if you dont already have it. Only the pre amp wire will be coming from the back of the deck.
All ya need to run is your RCA cables and your remote wire. The 12V will come from your battery and your ground can be run pretty much anywhere on the interior body. Chip or scratch the paint wherever you connect it and I recommend using self-tapping screws. Like mentioned before tape the end to keep from grounding out.
If you want a neat little trick you can run a power wire from any hot such as cig lighter or something and hook it up to a toggle switch then run it to your amp. That way if you are listening to like a radio show or a high pitched song or just tired of BOOM BOOM BOOM you can turn the switch off and the amp will go off. You can also just put the ground for the amp under the bolt which holds down the seat.
You could, but if you somehow ground out, then there goes your tunes and cig lighter. In the same respect, you can still put a toggle switch on the stereo remote.
Either way people will laugh at you. Just kidding.
