I have a 1992 F150 and want to install the factory radio in it. The wiring to the plugs that hook up to the radio were cut by prev. owner( WHY??????). I can't figure how to hook up the power plug wires. Every wire matches a wire in the truck but a red wire on the plug hads no where to go but to the ground. I thought that red was for power. If anyone can give me a wiring diagram, tell me which wires go to where or something, I would really appreciate it.
I can tell you why they cut it. Before there was ready made
interface style connectors, we had to cut and splice to hook
up after market stuff just to run our personalized system.
well thats just me. anyway, without the schematics, you
should be able to trace the power from the battery, ignition,
dimmer, with a test light or DMM. as for the speaker wires, you
could back track from each speaker location. mark on a piece
of paper each wire color, with or with out stripe, and that should
give you the basics. of course there probably is power ant or relay
wire and stuff. If you have a haynes or chilton manual , they have
it listed there. I'll take a look and check back if no one comes back. with the specifics.
Thanks for the help. I did what you suggested and it worked, it was a a little hard, but it was def. worth it. I got my amp hooked up and that works too. I only need to get a new batt. because the radio goes off when I have the lights on at the same time. Not enough juce must be. Thanks again!
