Thanks. I e-mailed him and asked him to resend them using a camera so if he does, I'll post them. In the mean time, the pics he sent show:

the Banks turbo

the aluminum air box with black hoses coming off it which looks identical to the one posted by tjc except this one has two stickers on it(one says Banks Gale Banks Engineering/the address/"Turbocharger system for Ford 6.9/7.3"/ model 6.9f/CARB E. O. NO. D-161-14

what looks to be an exhaust manifold

the u shaped down pipe that joins to the exhaust

If all he has is what's in the pics and the turbo needs a rebuild would it still be a good deal at $350? I also have to factor in getting it shipped to me.
Thanks to everyone for the advice.

He said he'd take $300 for everything but I also have to factor shipping.

I'd do it.
Figure you're going to have to spend around $100, though, on misc parts, new gaskets and such.

Oh, and I didn't mention the oil line because I had one fabricated locally at a hose shop.

Is there a rebuild kit for the turbo? He said the shaft has no play but in case it's worn out.

I know they can be rebuilt, but I'm not sure exactly on where to get such things.

If you've got no end play, it's plenty good. IIRC, these turbos use bushings, and as long as you keep plenty of oil going through it, there's not a lot to fail.

I've been trying to search but no luck. I guess I need the part number off the turbo first.

if there is no play in the shaft and there is no oil fouling it is good. you can get a rebuilt kit from banks.
for $300 that is not a bad deal, but you are missing around 2-3 hundred in parts.
you will need a downpipe, i did not see one in the pictures.
it also looks like the cross over pipes are buggered up, there should be 3 flange ends. it looks like one end has pipes welded to it from a home done repair.

Thanks tjc. I was already thinking it would be better to just get the air box, turbo, and gauges sent to save on shipping if the turbo is worth $300 itself. Would an exhaust shop be able to fab the pipes or would I have to order them?

maybe, but i would order them from Banks direct.
call banks and price the down pipe and crossover pipe, their phone number is 1-800-601-8072.
ask for sales. you are asking for parts for a first generation sidwinder, non wastegated turbo for a ford 7.3 IDI diesel. you will also have to tell them what trans you have. automatic and manual trans crossover pipes are different.

Looking for parts, I found an ATS kit that's missing the crossover pipe for $250. This seems like a way better turbo being a more modern setup with a wastegate. Is it a better buy?

If the Turbo is good maybe. For your set up unless you plan build the motor the banks set up looks better to me.
