Metal dash

Im just doing some dreaming/thinking here.

How difficult is it to remove the entire metal dash out of a 61-66 F100?

Is it just spot welded in?

I found a cab that I can pick up for next to nothing and I thought it would be really cool to weld in a 67 Mustang dash.

Anything is possible with a sawzall and a welder........wouldn't be easy though. I think the dash is part of the structural integrity of the cab too. Do you have a Stang dash laying around?

A friend of mine bought 20 acres and there is a 67 Mustang in the weeds. Its a 6 cyl car that has been gutted and is not worth saving. I could get the dash out before he buries it or has it hauled off.

Get that mustang dash out and start grafting. I'd like to see this swap get done. I hate seeing people put these newer dashs in there trucks why would you want plastic and tasteless design in your old truck. The mustang dash sounds like a winner for swaps to me.

Dash Swap

I agree with leonharu! The mustang dash is really light weight. The dash on your truck is a significant structural member. Your dash is spot welded in and can be removes with much work. I personally would not do this. I think you could fab an entire dash out of 18 Gage steel Like NASCAR, add some nice gages and have a happy life. MHO.

If you do swap the dash, would be worth your while to tack in some supports before removing the old dash. That way the cab will not shift if the old dash is supporting part of it.

I personally think it would be a cool project. While I like the f100 dash, the originality of swapping the dash would be nice to see. I say go for it. If you can remove the old dash in one piece, you can always weld it back in if you dont like the results.

Yea Leon, if you saw the Mustang and the F100 cab you would have a different opinion.

The guys at the scrap yard will laugh when either of these roll in.

I think it would be a good project just to see if it is something that is feasible.

Im certain I know Mustangs way better than you do. Having owned one or more during the past 35+ years Im pretty savvy on value and collectability.

I currently own two of them.

You voiced your opinion, thanks.

Hey I love the idea. In the like 48 ta 56 forum there is a guy that put a 49 to 50 sedan dash in a COE. Hey it turned out super great. Look it up and check it out.
Anything can be done if ya got the drive and know how. Lets see some pics of what
ya plan to work with. Than lots more pics of ya doing it.

Could we see some pictures? Here is how.

But I got ta say becoming a supporter is the fastest and easiest way to post pics right from
your whatever pad/cell thing or home computer.
Few of us look in the users Gallery or album as you can see by your recent visitors.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
The best photos and videos | Photobucket

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Here's a tutorial Bob put together: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/67...-pictures.html Bob's link is not working. Can someone in the know tell me why?

How to upload pictures to the FTE Forums. - YouTube. Thanks Sam Rusty_Old_F250. Best we can find is that this video was done by Gundown64

It will take a few days before I can get pics. The two vehicles are about 40 miles from each other and I have to go out into the weeds to get to them.

I would not start on this project till late summer at the earliest. I am finishing up one of my 65 Mustangs in the next couple months and I need to get the other one ready to sell. I don't have room to park it and I sure don't need it. If Im going to have extra vehicles sitting around I would rather it be a F100.

I have pulled a couple of the dash assemblies. Depends on how you do it.

If you drill out all the spot welds or just start cutting.

I have 2 extra uncut dash assy here leaning up against the fence . . .

Boss your pic is making me lose interest.

I have a feeling that is one of those projects that may never get finished.
