Differential Equations
Okay so I ordered gears from Richmond Gear from Summit Racing. I got the gears in record time and had them over to my mechanic the same day. Before he put them in he noticed that the gears had a few too many gears. Summit had the box marked correctly for 4.56, but had put in another gear. So I called summit and had another set of gears on their way last Thursday. They were promised by Summit to be here on Friday, but that didn't go so well. It took 4 days for Summit to fix their mistake, but I now have the correct gears.
My mechanic also noticed that the outer axle seal was leaking oil into the drum so I had him put a new one in. Before ordering parts I had him pull the diff cover on the front and makes sure it has 4.56 gears in it. Who knows if the information I was given was correct. Anyway it did indeed have 4.56's in it and a Detroit TruTrac.
Fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong!
Correction- I did NOT get the right gears. Both boxes were numbered correctly and said 4.56 but had a different gear inside. This is inexcusable to me on summit's part. I am on the phone with them now and having them send me a THIRD set of gears with next day air shipping. Summit really dropped the ball on this order.
